Towards a pollution-free planet: report of the Executive Director

The Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme submits to the United Nations Environment Assembly of the United Nations Environment Programme a report entitled “ Towards a pollution - free planet ” , which describes the challenges posed by global pollution, outlines current efforts to address pollution and suggests 50 actions to tackle the problem.

The Committee of Permanent Representatives to the Environment Programme, at its extraordinary meeting held on 5 December 2016 , approved “pollution” as the generic theme of the third session of the United Nations Environment Assembly. The Committee of Permanent Representatives , at its 138th meeting, held on 10 March 2017, endorsed that proposal and agreed that the theme of the Assembly should be “Towards a pollution - free planet”. The present report has been produced in response to that decision.
