Drawing on five in-depth country diagnostics on clean energy access in eSwatini, Mozambique, Madagascar, Lesotho, and Malawi, this joint UNCDF-UNDP report series unpacks the investment case for clean energy in the Southern African Development Community.
This forms part of an ongoing collaboration between UNCDF and UNDP to address UNDP’s Signature Solution 5 that seeks to work with countries to close the energy access gap. Signature Solution 5 focuses on increasing energy access, promoting renewable energy and enhancing energy efficiency in a manner that is inclusive and responsive to the needs of different sectors of the population, in line with the aspirations of Sustainable Development Goal 7.
